4 Top Tips For Creating Luxury Bedrooms
Whilst planning my move to Spain it has been an essential part of the process looking at houses and choosing my decor style. This is for a number of reasons, mainly to decide what I need to take with me in terms of furniture and accessories. I have already chosen my design style as a luxurious modern living and this extends to creating luxurious bedroom decor for both myself and any of the guests who will be visiting me.
It is important that I have a clear concept before I start the moving process so that I can prepare adequately and group together everything for each room. My daughter has created visuals for me to help envisage each space but also to ensure that the colour schemes flow throughout and that the luxurious bedroom ideas are created with deliberate choices when it comes to keeping items such as your furniture, soft furnishings and even colour choices refined.
This helps me to plan what I need to purchase and what I already have, I have also been researching which items are best to purchase here and have shipped with my belongings (more on that later when we get to that experience) or if it is available where I’m moving to.
I have picked my top 4 tips for curating a luxurious bedroom, without the hefty price tag and hope it helps you in your quest for a beautiful bedroom
I have found that using the Google tool on desktop where you can save a photo of the item you like, add it to the Google search and run a search will bring up similar items within your budget.
Next up is a throw or two, this completes the look of luxe. Padded throws, chunky knit throws, waffle throws any throws add to the look of your bedroom.
Once you’ve mastered these two important aspects then you’ll want to make sure your pillows are plumpy and we recommend at least 4 on a bed even if you don’t sleep with 2 pillows. This gives a different height. Height and texture are huge when it comes to creating an opulent finish. Again you don’t have to choose expensive throws or bedspreads it is actually all in the styling of it!
Finally, finish with scatter cushions. 3 or 5 are the best numbers to use. Please do not have only 1 scatter cushion on your bed. This looks drab and sad and doesn’t add a luxe feel. Choosing cushions with plush fillings instead of polyester give more volume to your cushions adding that extra bit of luxury.
We like to use differently sized scatter cushions, again for creating different heights when it comes to the lines your eyes follow.
Choose a bed that fits the space well as well as multipurpose items, if you have a nightstand in your room, does it have a drawer to store say your hairdryer and makeup? Tidying things into drawers helps to create a luxury feel as it isn’t cluttering your space. You want to choose pieces that add beauty and utility in your space.
You can use floor-to-ceiling padded headboards on the wall, panelling, mirrors, even wall murals to really create that boutique hotel vibe. We’ve gone for different colour schemes, however on similar tones for all of the bedrooms using an array of different techniques in each room to give them their own personality.
As you can see from our visuals neutral tones are used throughout with accent colours in the form of soft furnishings that can easily be changed if desired.
If you’re struggling to get a concept of how you want to look then I highly recommend that you head to Pinterest, search luxury bedroom ideas and then pin 50+ of the images you like. Go through your board and you should see a pattern emerging as a base point to start your design from. Even though some of the spaces may be bigger than your room and items out of your budget, with some simple research you can find items that fit your budget and are similar to the images you like on Pinterest which you can use as a guide.
