If you’re looking to escape the sub-zero temperatures of the UK for a much warmer climate then you may be struggling to decide which destination is best for your winter break. We’ve pulled together our 5 favourite winter sun spots to help you decide

1. Tenerife for Winter Sun

A firm favourite of holidaymakers all year round, Tenerife (the largest Canary Island) and the other Canary Islands feel the benefit of the warmer climate all year round. So is ideal for some winter sun.

Tenerife, home to Mount Teide, which is one of the world’s largest volcanoes, marks November as the first month of their Winter Season, and whilst it still remains warm (24.5ºC) there is often some rainfall in the winter months. Don’t let this put you off however, as there are more glorious days than not.

With the bars and restaurants open all year round, Adeje and Los Christianos are resorts that come highly recommended to stay.

Flights from the UK take around 4-4.5hours and both budget airlines and standard airlines fly to Tenerife from most major airports.

2. Lanzarote

Much like Tenerife, Lanzarote benefits from a warm climate all year round too. A slightly cooler Canary Island, you can expect to see temperatures around 23ºC whilst you’re here. Evenings in Lanzarote in the winter season can get extremely cool, so do make sure that you pack warmer wear as it is a typically windy island but still great for winter sun.

Bars and restaurants are open all year round on the island, so you’ll be able to enjoy a sunshine holiday and be the envy of all at home in the cold.

The Green Caves are a great experience and well worth taking the tour, alongside riding camels in Arrecife is a must while you’re there too.

Flights take around 3.5/4hr from the UK and like Tenerife, Lanzarote is accessible via many major airports. We highly recommend staying at Lanzarote Retreats if you’re looking for an eco-friendly Yurt experience.

3. Las Vegas

Our favourite place to visit in November, Las Vegas, the desert that has it all. With t-shirt weather the norm, temperatures are usually around 21ºC, which is warm enough to wander the Strip comfortably. It has been known, however, to snow during November. These temperatures are much more comfortable than Vegas in the Summer season, where temperatures soar to the 40s.

Regardless of the weather, you can experience artificial climates as you explore all of the hotels and what they have to offer.

Flights to Las Vegas from the UK take around 8-10 hours and you can fly direct from Heathrow and Gatwick as well as Manchester. We recommend flying (if possible) from your home airport into one of these three and then onwards.

We recommend staying centre strip in one of the following hotels; The Bellagio, Ceasars Palace, The Cromwell, The Mirage, The Flamingo, The Linq, Ballys, TI, Venetian, The Cosmopolitan and Planet Hollywood to ensure you’re in amongst the centre of it all.

You can fly to Orlando in as little as 7 hours from either Manchester or London airports with both BA and Virgin. Don’t forget to collect your Airmiles on these trips.
