With the 2-week holiday countdown on I was looking to move a couple of pounds before heading off to the theme parks of Orlando. So when I was asked to trial Maxislim BerryTrim it couldn’t have come at a better time.
While the best way to lose weight is always through a healthy diet and exercise, a little help certainly doesn’t go amiss. Maxislim, BerryTrim, a recent best supplement winner was a slimming aid that was top of my list to try out. Currently being hailed as the ‘gastric band in a glass’ I was keen to see how it worked.
It is a combination of a whole host of natural ingredients mainly centred around Glucomannan (Konrad Fibre). It is supplied in individual serving sachets or you can buy a 42 serving tub. There are some ingredients within Maxislim BerryTrim that claim powerful properties, including green tea, insulin, super berries and white kidney beans. If you want to read all of the science behind it and learn more about the ingredients head over to healtharenaproducts.com
The supplement is free from wheat, gluten, lactose, preservatives and yeast and is only 22 calories per serving. You do need to mix it with the recommended amount of water so that it gets through to your stomach.
The cost is £1.65 per sachet or you can buy a 42 serving pot for £29.95 which brings the price down to just over 70p per serving. You can order directly from Healtharenaproducts.
You mix the powder with at least 300ml of water to create a long drink and have this 15 to 30 minutes before your 3 main meals of the day. It Is quite gelatinous in texture and swells to take up space in your stomach so you feel fuller quicker, reducing your portion size intake. Hence the reference to ‘gastric band in a glass’ As it is a soluble fibre it also reduces the absorption of fat. Glucomannan has had a bit of a bad press lately as it can be difficult to swallow but in this powdered form and mixed with sufficient levels of water I certainly didn’t find it a problem at all.
I would suggest using a protein shaker with a wire ball inside to mix it up and you DO have to drink it immediately. I do mean immediately don’t let it stand. It just becomes too gloopy if it is left even for a few seconds and you really don’t want any supplement to remind you of a bushtucker trial. Once mixed properly it has a slight hint of berry flavour so is quite easy to consume. Have it about half an hour before you eat and you will definitely feel a difference. I must admit I felt quite full even before I started my meals.
Now I am always a bit suspicious when I read the bit about ‘encourages healthy bowel activity’ so I did try the first sachet with my evening meal when I knew I was going to be at home. No need to panic my trips to the bathroom were no more frequent than usual!
So what were the results
On day 1 I did feel full after eating smaller amounts and this lasted so I didn’t find myself looking for a mid-morning or supper snack.
By day 3 I had lost 2lbs and felt that I had a bit of an energy boost and I had definitely been eating smaller portions sizes and feeling fuller longer. What I wasn’t doing was drinking sufficient water throughout the day so I made a conscious effort to up my intake. It is recommended that you consume 2 litres of water. I only ever have a light lunch at work; generally soup or a tuna salad. I, therefore, didn’t take a sachet through the day and just went with one in the morning before breakfast and one when I returned home before my evening meal which seemed a good choice for me.
After the first week, I had lost a wonderful 5lbs.
Bizarrely after the first few days, I had also noticed that the osteoarthritis in my knees was less painful. I emailed Healtharena and they were super helpful, advising me that in other studies some of the ingredients had been known to assist with arthritis-related inflammation. Double bonus!
I am now at the end of my two-week trial and packing for my vacation in the Sunshine State. I’m definitely leaving plenty of room in my suitcase for some new outfits now that I am a full 8lbs lighter than I was 2 weeks ago!
Thanks Maxislim BerryTrim, it really worked for me and gave me the boost I needed in time for my holiday.
