Las Vegas is an ever-evolving city and there is so much to see and do that I am constantly changing up my top picks. These are my 5 favourite choices from my most recent visit to Sin City.

Linq and High Roller
Just off the central strip, opposite Caesars Palace, The Linq promenade is currently THE place to go. With the largest High Roller observation wheel firmly taking centre stage this is a busy parade of contemporary bars, restaurants and shops day and night. Including the latest Gordon Ramsey fish & chip shop.
A trip on the High Roller is an absolute must. Take in the spectacular views of the neon lit city, mountains and desert. I would thoroughly recommend doing an evening trip and upgrading to the bar package. Although you can also do chocolate tasting and even yoga tours in the capsules, if that’s what floats your boat.
There is an expectation that a zip wire will be added to the promenade later this year and with the addition of the light show this parade is drawing more and more crowds to create a real atmospheric party buzz.
Don’t forget to check out the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM machine which is located here. It is pretty cool.
Neon Boneyard Museum
As Las Vegas has only existed since 1905 there isn’t a tremendous amount of history. Scandal yes, History No. So the Neon Boneyard Museum is the closest you are going to get for that retro feel of old Vegas.
The easiest way to get to the Neon Boneyard from The Strip is on the bus. You can catch the deuce to The Bonneville Transit Center and then transfer onto bus 113. You can use your bus ticket for both. I bought the 24 hour pass and used it the evening before to travel to The Fremont Street Experience. Word of caution, don’t linger at the transit center as it’s a little unsavoury.
The Neon Boneyard is only a short distance from Fremont Street. You will spot it easily by the fabulous retro neon shoe in the centre of the highway.
The tour lasts an hour and you really need to book in advance as they only have so many spaces on each slot. It’s outdoors and can get pretty hot so make sure you are prepared for the weather.
The tour itself is absolutely fabulous and informative. I was so pleased to have seen all of the wonderful signage and learn the stories associated with their creation. It is a great experience and I would thoroughly recommend it as a more relaxed activity to do in this frenetic city.
Tenors of Rock Show
When in Vegas there are a plethora of shows of all genres. I particularly enjoy the music shows and combined with rock I am in heaven. Its a throwback to my rock chick days!
Call me biased but the Tenors of Rock Show in Harrahs is one not to be missed. The 4 Brits and 1 Aussie really put on the most memorable rock show with a musical theatre twist. They all have outstanding voices and the accompanying musicians are terrific.
If you are not sure whether to go or not take a look at their sensational version of Bohemian Rhapsody on YouTube. We saw 3 shows that week and this is the one where we had the best night ever. Do stay for the meet and greet in the foyer afterwards it is so much fun, and free!
Cocktails at Sugar Factory
I love a fish bowl cocktail and the ones served up at Sugar Factory are spectacular. Enjoying their new location front and centre at Fashion Show Mall the restaurant and bar still draws in the celebrity crowds. The food is great and the cocktails even better. I will let you judge for yourself, my only recommendation would be don’t be greedy and do stop after one!
The Wynn Fountains
While the Bellagio Fountains are world renowned and spectacular, sometimes the music is sometimes a little too somber for my taste.
The fountain show at the Wynn Hotel is on a much smaller scale but are really uplifting with their playful display and delightfully cheery musical accompaniment. Who can’t help themselves sing along to Be Our Guest.
My one disappointment on my recent trip.
I used to love Downtown Vegas and the fabulous light show at Fremont Street but on this trip I sadly couldn’t wait to leave and get back to the Strip. It’s all looking a bit shabby and really quite seedy. I must say I usually feel quite safe walking around but even at 7pm I felt quite uncomfortable. With a city that boasts so much wealth there is a desperate amount of poverty and homelessness. Come on Vegas clean up your act.
