After all of the December festivities January always feels a little flat, so what better excuse is there to get your sparkle on again than spending an evening with the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour.

A cold wet January night really came to life when the super tanned, super toned stars of Strictly Come Dancing; The Live Tour sashayed into the Toon. No wonder the show is so popular year after year it really has an incredibly fabulous feel good factor.

Appearing at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena the glitter ball was hung high above the glamour and glitz of a packed out stadium. With sufficient Norvell tan, sequins, gold shimmer and pyrotechnics you were left in no doubt you were in the middle of a spectacular extravaganza.

Ore Oduba, the perfect host looking comfortably at home in the role of compere was an absolute natural. Participating in some of the dances he is certainly an added bonus to the show.

The Judges for the evening; Dame Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and in his usual guise of pantomime villain Craig Revel Horwood.

The celebrity dancers and professional partners making an appearance for the Live show were;
Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez

Starting the show off in spectacular glittery style Alexandra and Gorka picked up a clean sweep of 10’s.

Swiftly followed by a very glamorous Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton. The couples second dance of the show following the intermission saw Susan in her wonderful Wonder Woman guise. Certainly great value entertainment and showing real girl power.

Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova gave a sensationally steamy performance.

Next up Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Skorjanec receiving a fabulously warm Northern reception.

And then on to my personal favourites
Jonnie Peacock and Oti Mabuse with his high kicking blade and fast paced moves. They took a little bit of a bashing from the judges who received a lot of rightful booing back from the audience. Regardless of the scores Jonnie is a complete and utter hero and an absolutely great role model for any budding paralympians or anyone else for that matter.

Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice were spectacular, her diminutive figure perfect for the lift sequences. Debbie showing that the more mature lady can certainly still give the younger ones a run for their money.

Finally the seasons wonderful winners; Joe McFadden and Katya Jones taking to the stage like the consummate professionals they are.

Into the intermission and a fabulous troupe of dancers and wonderful musicians linked us spectacularly into the second round of dances. The show sparkling from start to finish.

Left to the audience to text message their winner during the intermission, it was the promise of a Geordie tattoo for Kevin and an emotional and extremely humble Susan that eventually won the crowd over on the evening. Both delighted to lift the glitter ball trophy for their warm and funny entertainment value.

The buzz from the audience leaving the arena had you strictly in no doubt that a great night was had by all on Tyneside. The show is great family entertainment especially for any budding ballroom dancers.
